Ceramic Oroshi Grater

$40

This traditional earthenware grater is anything but typical. The lower base acts as a channel/ reservoir, and the raised center orientation is studded with pointy and irregular pieces of ceramic. Use this grater to form a pulp and paste from foods that have a high starch content and/ or have a fibrous quality (think ginger, horseradish, turmeric, celeriac, etc.), and reserve the flavorful liquid in the "moat" as the solids are pushed aside (the stringy fibers will stay together and will not disrupt the desired consistency). The base has a silicone ring that aids in stability and also keeps work surfaces scratch-free. White glazed exterior with a natural dark brown interior. ø7.25" x 1.25"
